Spacing and timing are one of the important pieces of animation.


Extremes and In-betweens.

Extremes are change in action or direction, in-betweens fill the transition between extremes.

Break-downs are positions between extremes. Sometimes it is underlined.


Don't mind the line quality. The volume is what's important.

Keeping shapes and volumes consistent = volume control.

When results show, the shapes dominate, not the lines.


Keys:

Key drawings mark the important events in a scene. They are different than extremes.

There are 3 keys in a scene where a man walks, picks up a chalk, and draws on a board.
